We have recently released a new feature in Semonto: domain monitoring. In this article, we explain what domain monitoring is, why you need it and how it works. Let’s dive in!
What is domain monitoring?
Your domain is your address on the internet. For example, Semonto’s domain is called Semonto.com. In a perfect world, your domain is automatically renewed. But what if it doesn’t? With domain monitoring, you avoid that your domain gets claimed by someone else due to a failed renewal.
How does it work?
If you enable domain monitoring, we will frequently check the status of your domain. If your domain is about to expire, we will notify you 14 days in advance and again 5 days in advance. You can change these reminder dates if you want. You can also enable more detailed monitoring. In that case, we will not just keep you informed of status changes, but also of other domain information that might change, for example, the renewal date. If a change or issue is detected, we notify you by e-mail or any other notification method that you have selected.
Why do you need domain monitoring?
- Some domains are not automatically renewed
- Even automatic renewal can fail, for example, if your credit card is rejected.
- If you forget to renew your domain, your website becomes inaccessible.
- Any with your domain-associated e-mail services might go down.
- If your domain is not renewed, it can be hijacked by someone else.
- If your domain remains inaccessible, it harms your sales, SEO and reputation.
How much does it cost?
Domain monitoring is included in every Semonto-account. You do not have to pay extra to use it. If you don’t have a Semonto account yet, you can get started for as little as 7$ per month, or 5.83$ per month if you subscribe to the yearly plan. By the way, this gives you access to more than just domain monitoring. Check all our features here.
